King King, Friday, October 8th
Softly softly is not a maxim that King King are familiar with. Since surging into life last year they have barely stopped for breath, and their electrifying sound and scorching live shows have generated more of a thunderous roar than a buzz.
Fronted by charismatic bluesman Alan Nimmo, their exhilarating debut at last year’s Monaghan Blues Festival created such a stir that it prompted organizer Somhairle MacCognil to remark: With a reception like this there’s no surprise that the phone has been ringing off the hook since, and the last year has seen a frenetic schedule of gigs and festival appearances which have received outstanding praise and added plenty of new blood to their burgeoning army of followers.
Time: 7:00pm - 10:00pm, £9.50 +BF

Aynsley Lister, Wed. December 1st
Aynsley has never been an artist to reheat the music of yesteryear. Influenced from an early age by the 60’s RnB era, Lister takes these key elements and mixes them with a more current and melodic lyrical approach.
He is one of very few artists playing rocking blues with a modern edge -tangible, heartfelt, soul searching and full of fine songwriting; played with passion and vitality. His hard hitting rhythms and guitar work are reminiscent of a young Clapton.
£11 + Bf on sale 4/5 Ticketweb, shortly thereafter from Ripping Records 01312267010 & TicketsScotland 01312203234.

Hogmanay - Departure Lounge, 31st December, 2010
Departure Lounge is a club that was launched in July 2003 in Edinburgh by three friends, music-lovers and clubbers: DJs Astroboy and Mr Zimbabwe, and Cammy, resident percussionist and vibes man. In 2007 we recruited a fourth member to the crew: Jimenez - DJ, digger and all round top chap. Our original aim was simple and still holds true: provide a original, friendly and unique space for open-minded souls to enjoy a mix of music that can't be found anywhere else: jazz, hip-hop, Latin, Afrobeat, Brazilian, soul, house, drum'n'bass...you get the picture! With a love equally for the DJs craft and scorching live music, both of these elements became central in the planning of the night.
